It's #transitiontuesday, today I wanted to share a bit of my transition story with you.
When I started my career in #HR, I was a single mom, ambitious, driven, (you know all of those buzz words) and I really just wanted to be given a chance to prove myself. I wanted a chance to be able grow my career, not necessarily for me but more so for my son.
It wasn’t easy in the beginning, there were a lot of bumps and bruises along my learning curve, in fact, and at one point, I even questioned if I was in the right field, I thought that maybe I should have been that doctor or lawyer that my parents had wanted me to be. You see, I didn’t have the exact playbook on how this HR career was supposed to go, however, along my journey, I have been blessed to have different kinds of people walk alongside me, some were/are mentors, some were/are friends, some were/are coaches.
I’m not saying that without that I wouldn’t be where I am, instead what I’m saying is that with them and all those buzz words at the beginning I am where I am. It hasn’t been easy, but it hasn’t been impossible. That’s not just my story though, I’ve seen that same story play out in those that I have had the pleasure to walk alongside as a #coach and a #mentor.
Can you relate?
